Temperature profiles from MBT casts from the WINONA from Ocean Weather Station V (OWS-V) in the North Pacific Ocean from 22 April 1970 to 21 May 1970 (NODC Accession 7000724)

Bathythermograph data were collected from the WINONA within a 1-mile radius of Ocean Weather Station V (3400N 16400E) and in transit. Data were collected by the United States Coast Guard from 22 April 1970 to 21 May 1970. The platform was equipped and staffed to observe weather and sea conditions. Data were processed by NODC to the NODC standard Universal Bathythermograph Output (UBT) format. Full format description is available from NODC at www.nodc.noaa.gov/General/NODC-Archive/bt.html.

The UBT file format is used for temperature-depth profile data obtained using the mechanical bathythermograph (MBT) instrument. The maximum depth of MBT observations is approximately 285 m. Therefore, MBT data are useful only in studying the thermal structure of the upper layers of the ocean. Cruise information, date, position, and time are reported for each observation. The data record comprises pairs of temperature-depth values. Temperature data in this file are recorded at uniform 5 m depth intervals.

通用深水温度记录仪输出格式（Universal Bathythermograph Output, UBT）用于存储由机械式深水温度记录仪（Mechanical Bathythermograph, MBT）获取的温度-深度剖面数据。机械式深水温度记录仪观测的最大深度约为285米，因此该类数据仅适用于研究海洋上层的热结构。每条观测记录均包含航次信息、观测日期、位置与时间。数据记录由多组温度-深度数值对构成。该文件中的温度数据以每5米的均匀深度间隔进行记录。
