Inventory of Bonou and Itchèdè forests in south east of Benin

The aim of this research work was to study the structural and ecological characteristics of Bonou and Itchèdè forest reserve (latitudes 6°53’ and 7°00' North and longitudes 2°25’ and 2°38' East), in order to contribute to their sustainable management. Data were collected by means of systematic square sampling (100 m X 100 m) on 0.25 ha square plots. On the whole, we inventoried 11 plots in Bonou and 20 plots in Itchèdè. The dendrological parameters measured were the diameter at 1.3 m above the ground and the total height of the trees. In addition, the regeneration of the species of value was counted in squares plots of 100 m2. The collected data were analyzed using Minitab and SAS, softwares.
