This study describes a new type of remote, airborne microbial passive (RAMP) sampling system. Several troubleshooting experiments were conducted to demonstrate that the sampler can be used to obtain sufficient biomass for use with bacterial 16S rRNA amplicon-based Illumina Mi-Seq sequencing.
