Initial effects of BBN treatment on mouse bladder

Characterizing the initial stages of oncogenic transformation in bladder cancer. Littermate male mice were transferred in single-use plastic cages in order to be treated with the BBN carcinogen. The treatment dose used in this work was 0.05% BBN delivered in drinking water for up to 12 days. Bladder samples were collected at day 1, 4, 8 and 12 from treated mice along with the age-matched controls (non-treated). The drinking water was changed every fourth day. The weights of the mice and BBN water intake were measured every four days and mice were checked regularly for any signs of discomfort and pain.

本研究解析膀胱癌致癌转化的初始阶段特征。实验中将同窝雄性小鼠置于一次性塑料笼具中，以接受BBN致癌物（BBN）处理。本研究采用的给药剂量为：以饮用水配制0.05%的BBN溶液，持续给药至多12天。分别于给药后第1、4、8及12天采集给药小鼠的膀胱组织样本，并同步采集同月龄未给药的对照小鼠样本。每四天更换一次饮用水。每四天称量小鼠体重并记录其BBN溶液饮水量，同时定期观察小鼠是否出现不适或疼痛症状。
