Cambridge Bay Soil Invertebrate Biodiversity

Six soil sites near the Canadian High Arctic Research Station were sequenced to provide a first estimate of below-ground invertebrate diversity. General 18S primers were used to identify a broad range of invertebrates such as insects, collembolans and nematodes to characterize the communities present at these 6 sites. Sites were selected to include a range of different vegetation types, including a scale from very mineral barely vegetated soil to soils dominated by tundra-type vegetation such as Carex sp. and mosses.

本研究对加拿大高北极研究站附近的6处土壤样地进行测序，以首次估算地下无脊椎动物的多样性。研究采用通用18S引物（General 18S primers），对昆虫、弹尾虫及线虫等多种无脊椎动物开展鉴定，以此表征该6处样地中的生物群落特征。本次选取的样地覆盖了多样的植被类型，梯度范围从富矿质且几乎无植被的土壤，到以苔原类植被（如苔草属（Carex sp.）和苔藓）为主导的土壤。
