Thermoactinomyces vulgaris strain 2H was isolated by Houda Mankai from a soil sample collected from a southern part in Tunisia (Tamaghsa, Toseur). The optimum growth temperature and pH were found to be 60°C and 7.5 respectively. Its complete genome sequence and full methylome was determined using SMRT sequencing. The genes responsible for m5C methyltransferase, and its exact recognition profile has been determined separately (B. P. Anton, unpublished data).
