VPRS 3858 School Building General Subject Files

This series consists of general subject files relating to the school building function. The papers in these files do not relate to any particular school building but to subjects which affected school buildings and facilities in general. The subjects covered include prefabricated classrooms, school furniture, playgrounds, use of gas heaters and electric stoves etc..This series contains those subject files which were not top numbered into a subsequent system of sequentially numbered files. It appears that in about 1950 some subject files from this series were allocated a unique file number. Even though the series of sequentially numbered files, located in VPRS 8819, commenced in 1950 the Buildings Branch of the Education Department apparently continued to file papers on some files located in this series. Hence the contents date range of this series extends to 1961.
