Student responses to a survey conducted before taking hydrographic mapping course in 2025

This spreadsheet contains responses by students for the 2025 hydrographic mapping course to a survey given prior to the course. Student identities have been removed as required by human subject protocol. The surveys were designed by Dr. Sissy Wong (University of Houston Education Department) in consultation with the geophysics instructors (Dr. William Sager, Dr. Robert Steward, and Mr. Kevin Tomanka). The objective was to capture student attitudes, awareness, and knowledge of the field before and after the course. The surveys were given to the students as a series of questions in paper and electronic form.
