This BioProject contains the BAM files with the mitochondrial reads used in Daunesse et al. 2025 for heteroplasmy detection across four mouse strains: Mus musculus domesticus (C57BL/6J), Mus musculus castaneus (CAST/EiJ), Mus musculus musculus (C3H/HeJ), and Mus caroli (CAROLI/EiJ) in liver cancer samples. The dataset includes both standard and shift-mapped alignments. The shift-mapping approach repositions the linear start of the mitochondrial genome by 8,150 bp to improve read alignment at artificial breakpoints, reducing coverage biases.
