Juvenile sockeye salmon (Oncorhynchus nerka) were tracked with acoustic and PIT telemetry for 14 km of the Chilko River, British Columbia, Canada. This region was previously identifed as high-risk for migrant smolts. Smolts were released over a wide range of conspecific outmigration densities, allowing for testing of the "swamping hypothesis." Tagging metadata are given, including summarized detections for each fish. The hourly outmigration densities throughout the smolt migration are also given. Separate files are given for acoustic and PIT metadata (and corresponding detection summaries). This dataset accompanies the following peer-reviewed publication. Furey, NB, SG Hinch, AL Bass, CT Middleton, V Minke-Martin, and AG Lotto. Predator swamping reduces predation risk during nocturnal migration of juvenile salmon in a high-mortality landscape.
