VPRS 12844 Indexes to Rolling Stock Register

The two items in this series provided access to the contents of three of the volumes in VPRS 12845 Rolling Stock Register I. It is believed that the older of the indexes was created after all the volumes in the series were located at the head office of the Victorian Railways. They provided access to units 1 to 3 of that series. The second index was possibly created at about the time when entries in VPRS 12845 Rolling Stock Register I were being transcribed onto the loose-leaf sheets of VPRS 12846 Rolling Stock Register II and provided access to volumes 1 and 2 of the original series.Both indexes list rolling stock by class or type of rolling stock and give the volume number in which entries relating to that type or class appear and the commencing page.
