PubMed- and OpenAlex-derived data and Python code supporting the review \"The organism sets the scope: diversifying experimental systems in plant physiology\" (submitted to Theoretical and Experimental Plant Physiology). Includes annual and unique plant-biology record counts for twelve reference plant systems (2000-2025) in PubMed and OpenAlex; a coverage matrix scoring seven physiological processes across 22 experimental systems, with the evidence for each cell, literature sizes and WCVP native ranges; per-record author-affiliation country data for 13 taxa native to lower- and middle-income regions (2014-2025, with and without a plant-biology MeSH filter); per-paper physiology-content classifications by subject indexing and by title; parser validation, per-taxon summaries, native-region definitions, sensitivity analyses and scripts that reproduce every reported statistic.
