Idesia polycarpa Maxim., is a valuable oilseed-producing tree of the Flacourtiaceae family that has the potential to fulfill edible oil production and is also a possible biofuel feedstock candidate. The fruits are unique in that they contain both saturated and unsaturated lipids present in the pericarp and seed respectively. However, the knowledge of triglyceride synthesis and storage in tissues outside of the seeds is poorly studied in previous researches, which may be important to generate oil-rich fruits. In this study, to gain insight into the unique properties of Idesia polycarpa fruits lipid synthesis, transcriptomic approaches were used to compare the lipid accumulation between pericarp and seed in a fruit.

山桐子(Idesia polycarpa Maxim.)是大风子科(Flacourtiaceae)的优质油料树种,兼具食用油开发潜力与作为生物燃料原料候选物种的价值。该果实独具特性,其饱和脂质与不饱和脂质分别储存在果皮(pericarp)和种子中。然而,此前针对种子以外组织中甘油三酯(triglyceride)合成与储存机制的研究仍较为匮乏,而这一环节对培育高含油量果实或具有关键意义。本研究为深入解析山桐子果实脂质合成的独特特性,采用转录组学(transcriptomic)技术,对果实内果皮与种子的脂质积累情况进行了对比分析。
