Staphylococcus aureus isolates from Eurasian Beavers (Castor fiber) carry a novel phage-borne bicomponent leukocidin

We describe Staphylococcus aureus isolates from Eurasian beavers (Castor fiber) that carry a phage-borne bicomponent leukocidin similar to Panton-Valentin leukocidin and that caused severe/fatal infection in these animals.

本研究报道了源自欧亚河狸（Castor fiber）的金黄色葡萄球菌（Staphylococcus aureus）分离株，该分离株携带一种与潘顿-瓦伦丁杀白细胞毒素（Panton-Valentin leukocidin）相似的噬菌体源性双组分杀白细胞毒素，且可在这些动物体内引发重症乃至致死性感染。
