Acylsugars are defensive compounds produced in the trichomes on leaf and stem surfaces by plants across the Solanaceae family. To identify the acylsugar biosynthetic pathway in Nicotiana acuminata, trichome and shaved stem tissue were used for transcriptome assemblies. Highly trichome- enriched candidate genes were tested functionally to determine the biosynthetic pathway.
酰基糖(Acylsugars)是茄科(Solanaceae)植物在叶片与茎秆表面的毛状体(trichomes)中合成的防御性化合物。为鉴定渐尖烟草(Nicotiana acuminata)体内的酰基糖生物合成途径,研究人员以毛状体组织及刮除表面毛状体的茎组织为材料进行转录组组装(transcriptome assemblies)。随后对高度富集于毛状体的候选基因开展功能验证,以明确其对应的生物合成途径。
