Climatological Oceanographic Atlas of the Bering Sea

A new hydrophysical atlas of the Bering Sea is presented. Atlas include climatological seasonal and mean fields of the temperature, salinity, velocity and mean dynamic topography (MDT). The product is obtained by combining historical oceanographic and atmospheric
observations with high-resolution model dynamics in the framework of the variational technique. The new MDT quantifies surface geostrophic circulation in the Bering Sea with a formal accuracy of 2-4 cm/s.

本研究提出一套全新的白令海水文物理图集。该图集涵盖温度、盐度、流速的气候学季节场与平均场，以及平均动态地形（mean dynamic topography，MDT）。本数据集通过在变分技术框架内融合历史海洋与大气观测数据及高分辨率海洋模式动力场得到。这套全新的平均动态地形可量化白令海海面地转环流，其形式化精度可达2-4厘米每秒（cm/s）。
