ZIKV strains belong to three phylogenetic lineages: East African, West African, and Asian/American. RNA virus genomes exist as populations of genetically-related sequences whose heterogeneity may impact viral fitness, evolution, and virulence. The genetic diversity of representative ZIKVs (N=7) from each lineage was examined using next generation sequencing (NGS) paired with downstream Shannon entropy calculation and single nucleotide variant (SNV) analysis. This comprehensive analysis of ZIKV genetic diversity provides insight into the genetic diversity of ZKIV and repository of SNV positions across lineages.

寨卡病毒(Zika Virus, ZIKV)毒株可划分为三个系统发育谱系:东非谱系、西非谱系与亚洲/美洲谱系。RNA病毒基因组以遗传相关序列的种群形式存在,其序列异质性可对病毒的适应性、进化进程与致病力造成影响。本研究选取各谱系的7株代表性寨卡病毒毒株(N=7),采用下一代测序(Next Generation Sequencing, NGS)结合后续香农熵(Shannon entropy)计算与单核苷酸变异(Single Nucleotide Variant, SNV)分析,对其遗传多样性展开了系统考察。本项针对寨卡病毒遗传多样性的全面分析,既深入解析了寨卡病毒的遗传多样性特征,也提供了跨各谱系的单核苷酸变异位点数据集。
