Radiocarbon ages of methane collected at the surface of lakes are presented. These data were used in Brosius et al. (2023) to calculate composite ages of lake emissions weighted to account for variation in emission mode, permafrost substrate and lake type. Lake names are informal except those marked *. Permafrost types include yedoma (Y) and non-yedoma (NY). Bubble classes refer to yedoma lake hotspot seeps (1), yedoma lake non-hotspot seeps (2), yedoma lake non-seep background ebullition and bubbles released by stirring sediments (3), non-yedoma lake seep ebullition (4), non-yedoma lake background ebullition (5). All 14C-dated bubble samples represent naturally occurring ebullition events, except class 3 bubbles generated by people stirring surface lake sediments (indicated by †). Emission modes refer to ebullition (E) and diffusion (D). References are numbered following Brosius et al.
