Breeding Metadata Rupicola peruvianus

This project encompases novel data of Perú, Ecuador and Colombia, on incubation behavior of the Andean cock-of-the-rock (Rupicola peruvianus) and detailed descriptions of nests, eggs, and nestlings, with the first photographic evidence of nestlings being fed with vertebrates and evidence to support the hypothesis of cryptic coloration in nestlings as camouflage to resemble moss-covered fruits. This study also includes parental care behavior, measures of nests, eggs and nestlings in the three countries. It also describes clutch size, egss and nest shape, nest location and materials it is build with, season activity of breeding, feeding and development of nestlings.

本项目涵盖了秘鲁、厄瓜多尔与哥伦比亚境内关于安第斯动冠伞鸟（Andean cock-of-the-rock，学名Rupicola peruvianus）孵卵行为的全新数据集，以及其鸟巢、卵与雏鸟的详细描述；其中首次提供了雏鸟被投喂脊椎动物的影像证据，同时为「雏鸟具隐蔽色（cryptic coloration）以模仿覆有苔藓的果实实现伪装」这一假说提供了支撑依据。本研究同时收录了上述三国的育幼行为数据，以及鸟巢、卵与雏鸟的各项测量指标。此外，本研究还记录了窝卵数、卵与巢的形态、巢位与筑巢材料、繁殖季活动规律，以及雏鸟的育食与发育过程。
