Climate change and the construction of hydroelectric dams have resulted in modified hydrography in the Lake Melville estuary, the largest estuary of Labrador. Changes in hydrography, especially in the seasonality of freshwater outflow, can have direct impacts on primary productivity as well as fish and zooplankton abundance and distribution. This project addresses critical knowledge gaps in the dynamics of the physical environment of the Lake Melville across complete year cycles. Using a long-term oceanographic mooring equipped with temperature sensors, CTDs, and a fluorometer we measure continuous changes in temperature, salinity, and chlorophyl a.
