We found that the feeding of microbivores increases microbial necromass formation (analyzed by amino sugars). Acrobeloides sp. addition increased bacterial necromass accumulation by 3–9% through feeding mainly on Proteobacteria. Aphelenchoides sp. addition increased fungal necromass accumulation by 4–14% through feeding mainly on Ascomycota. A 25% wetter rain season decreased bacterial necromass accumulation by disrupting the feeding of Acrobeloides sp. on Proteobacteria. Rain season delayed for two months decreased fungal necromass accumulation by disrupting the feeding of Aphelenchoides sp. on Ascomycota. The functional traits of soil fauna, like feeding habits, directly affect the formation of microbial necromass under rainfall changes.
