VPRS 17415 Water Level Charts - Kiewa River at Kergunyah

Prior to the early 1880s measurement of water course levels were not carried out in a systematic way in Victoria. Following the 1881-85 Royal Commission on Water Supply, continuous measurements were progressively taken on a number of Victorian water courses. This work was initially undertaken by the Victorian Water Supply Department (VA 2787) until the State Rivers and Water Supply Commission (VA 723) assumption the function in 1906. Since this time measurements have been undertaken for the government by a succession of agencies until the function was privatised in 1994 and Thiess Services Pty Ltd assumed the role of taking measurements. In some areas of the state the State Electricity Commission of Victoria [SECV] (VA 1002) also carried out measurements of watercourse levels in addition to the state's water authority. In a limited number of areas the SECV was the sole authority taking these measurements.Water Level Charts are a continuous (daily) record of water level at a particular site on a Victorian water course, known as a gauging station. The charts in this series record continuous daily readings of water level data at the Kiewa River, Kergunyah Gauge Station taken by the State Electricity Commission of Victoria (VA 1002).
