The Atewa Range Forest Reserve is a biodiversity hotspot in the Abuakwa South Municipality in the Eastern Region of Ghana. The forest is home to a wide range of rare and threatened forest species not limited to mammals, plants, frogs, birds, reptiles and insects of global conservation concern (Lindsell et. al.,2019). There is a wealth of other species that are either not known or are less studied in the Atewa forest, one of such species are wild mushrooms. The site is significant for the studies of mushrooms because although it is recognized as a Globally Significant Biodiversity Area (GSBA), it is under threat by illegal logging, farm encroachment, poaching, illegal mining among others. It has been ear-marked by the government as a potential bauxite mining site. These activities will impact on biodiversity such as mushrooms which are understudied but contribute to both human nutrition, provide health remedies and a source of income generation. This dataset is a representation of wild mushrooms collected in 2015 as part of a research on mushroom diversity in Ghana. The dataset contains a total number of 23 mushroom samples comprising identification of 10 different species, 11 genera and 1 classified to order level.
