Draft Genomic Sequencing Of Potential Extraintestinal Pathogenic Escherichia coli FEX675 Isolated from Retail Chicken Meat

Extraintestinal Pathogenic Escherichia coli are frequent contaminants in retail poultry meat. They are associated with ulcerative colitis, sepsis, and urinary tract infections. However, most Extraintestinal pathogenic E.coli (ExPEC) isolates which have published genomic sequences are clinical isolates, not food isolates. In this study we have determined the incidence and prevalence of ExPEC from the retail chicken meat products and are characterizing them using whole genome sequencing.

肠外致病性大肠杆菌（Extraintestinal Pathogenic Escherichia coli）是零售禽肉中常见的污染物。该类病原菌与溃疡性结肠炎、败血症及尿路感染密切相关。然而，目前已公开基因组序列的多数肠外致病性大肠杆菌（ExPEC）分离株均为临床分离株，而非食品来源分离株。本研究明确了零售鸡肉制品中肠外致病性大肠杆菌的检出率与流行率，并采用全基因组测序技术对其进行特征分析。
