Greenhouse Gas Emission Intensities for Material Inputs to Australian Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry

This MS Excel dataset contains greenhouse gas (GHG) emission intensity values for a selection of common material inputs to Australian agriculture, fishery and forestry sectors. The emission intensity values represent the quantity of GHG emissions per unit of a product (kg CO2-e/kg product) over its life cycle up to the point of delivery to market. It is an authoritative source of factors for estimating the life cycle GHG emissions of an organisation's activities or products, for GHG accounting, reporting, target setting and for use in GHG calculators / tools. When used for organisational GHG accounting they can be referred to as Scope 3 emission factors (EF) for 'purchased goods and services'. This dataset focuses on material inputs, complementing other datasets reporting GHG emission intensities for Australian energy inputs, such as available in Australia's National Greenhouse Accounts Factors. The GHG emission intensity values in this dataset have been derived from the the Australian Life Cycle Inventory (AusLCI) database (ALCAS 2026), which draws on a wide range of industry and scientific data. The methods and assumptions applied for generating the emission intesity values align with the requirements of Australian Government's Voluntary Greenhouse Gas Emission Estimation and Reporting Guidelines. Development of this inurgural version of the dataset was funded by the Zero Net Emissions Agriculture Cooperative Research Center (ZNEAg CRC).
