Global distribution and bioclimatic characterization of alpine biomes

Data from: Testolin R, Attorre F, Jimenéz-Alfaro B. 2020. Global distribution and bioclimatic characterization of alpine biomes. Ecography 43: 779-788.<br>The repository contains:1) Sample of the Google Earth Engine script used for extracting unforested areas;2) Sample of the R script used to model treeline elevation using quantile regression and extract alpine areas;3) Means and standard deviations of treeline elevations of global mountain ranges;<br>4) Spatial layer (ESRI Shapefile, EPSG 4326) of the distribution of global alpine ecosystems at 30m resolution (v1.0);<br>5) Spatial layer (ESRI Shapefile, EPSG 4326) of the distribution of global alpine ecosystems at 1km resolution, split by climatic cluster and ecoregion.<br><br><b>UPDATE 14/1/2022</b>6) Updated spatial layer (ESRI Shapefile, EPSG 4326) of the distribution of global alpine ecosystems at 30m resolution with continents, mountain names and areas information (v1.1).
