Urban Areas - Adjusted 2020

Description This layer depicts adjustments made to 2020 Census-designated Urban Areas to include adjacent areas with similar urban characteristics, such as commercial and workplace areas or other traffic-generating locations. Adjustments are also made to smooth urban vs. rural roadway classifications where roadways may repeatedly snake in and out of designated urban areas. Adjusted urban boundaries are determined cooperatively between the Colorado Department of Transportation and local transportation planning officials and approved by the Governor of Colorado and the Federal Highways Administration.
