The prevalence of obesity has increased over the past 30 years and is also a major health concern, as obesity is a risk factor for a variety of diseases. Immune cells are closely involved in the development and progression of obesity pathology. However, the role of bone marrow/immune cell ATRAP in obesity pathogenesis is largely unknown. In this study, the role of immune cell ATRAP was examined using a mouse model of diet-induced obesity. We found that deficiency of bone marrow ATRAP contributes to obesity pathogenesis via changes in the polarity of adipose tissue macrophages. Furthermore, we found that genetic alterations at the monocyte level may affect macrophage polarity.
