This data informs the Vital Sign indicator for floodplain function in large and small river systems and represent updated conditions circa 2021 (for comparison to 2011 baseline data). The indicator measures the amount (acres and percent) of floodplain area in functional condition in Puget Sound’s 17 major rivers. We attribute areas of the floodplain under four high level categories of function based on river connectivity and land use and cover.
