Our company's printed products have enjoyed widespread market popularity for many years. To better understand regional customer demand for printed products, our team collected and calculated demand elasticity data for relevant printed products. We gathered demand and price data of the target printed products over a specific time period to derive their price elasticity of demand. If the percentage change in quantity demanded of a printed product is greater than the percentage change in its price, the product is said to have elastic demand, indicating that customers are sensitive to price changes: the larger the elasticity, the more sensitive demand is to price fluctuations. In this case, enterprises in the industry can appropriately lower product prices to achieve higher revenues. Conversely, if the demand for a printed product is inelastic, enterprises in the industry can appropriately raise product prices to gain more revenues. This dataset holds significant implications for the marketing decision-making of all enterprises in the industry. 1. Data Collection: Collect demand and price data of the relevant printed products over a specific time period, and organize and categorize the data by customer regions to obtain the quantity demanded change and price change values of the printed products in different regions. 2. Algorithm Rules: Calculate using the following formula on the collected data to obtain the demand elasticity coefficient: $$E_d = -frac{Delta Q / Q}{Delta P / P}$$ Where: Q represents the quantity demanded of the product, with the unit of copy; P represents the price of the product, with the unit of yuan; ΔQ represents the year-on-year change in quantity demanded, with the unit of copy; ΔP represents the year-on-year change in price, with the unit of yuan. The absolute value of the demand elasticity coefficient, $|E_d|$, is taken as the reference coefficient for data analysis. 3. Data Analysis: Analyze the price elasticity of demand for the printed products based on the value of $|E_d|$: (1) $|E_d| = 1$ (Unitary price elasticity of demand): The magnitude of change in quantity demanded is the same as that in price; (2) $1 < |E_d| < infty$ (Relatively elastic demand): The magnitude of change in quantity demanded is greater than that in price; (3) $0 < |E_d| < 1$ (Relatively inelastic demand): The magnitude of change in quantity demanded is less than that in price; (4) $|E_d| o 0$ (Perfectly inelastic demand): The quantity demanded remains fixed regardless of price changes; (5) $|E_d| o infty$ (Perfectly elastic demand): The quantity demanded can change arbitrarily at a given price level.
