The dataset provides experimental data on water absorption by room-temperature amine cured epoxy adhesive widely used in automotive, aerospace, construction, and marine industries. Amino-functionalized graphene oxide (mGO) nanoparticles were incorporated into the epoxy (0.34, 0.68, and 1.72 wt.%: 0.34mGO, 0.68mGO and 1.72mGO, respectively) enabled cross-linking reactions and providing high interfacial adhesion, superior reinforcement efficiency and enhanced resistance to hydrothermal ageing of nanocomposites. Samples were conditioned in distilled water at 20°C and 50 °C for 12 months. Anomalous water absorption accompanied by progressive weight loss of samples related to leaching of low molecular weight epoxy species was observed. Addition of mGO greatly contributed to the decreased diffusivity and leaching of epoxy. Data can be useful for modelling non-Fickian water diffusion in epoxy/graphene based nanocomposites.
