An Infinium microarray platform (GPL28271, HorvathMammalMethylChip40) was used to generate DNA methylation data from several tissues (skin, blood) in toothed whales and dolphins. Tissues: skin and blood. Overall design: N=545 tissue samples from 9 different toothed whale species were profiled on the mammalian methylation array platform (GPL28271). N= 238 skin tissue. The remaining samples come from blood (N=283), blubber (N=5), heart (2), kidney (2), liver (2), lung (2), lymphnode (2), muscle (2), pancreas (2), spleen (3), testis (1), thyroid (1). We profiled samples from the following 9 different toothed whale species whose Latin names are as follows: Cephalorhynchus commersonii (Commerson's dolphin), Delphinapterus leucas (Beluga), Delphinus delphis (Common dolphin), Globicephala macrorhynchus (Short-finned pilot whale), Lagenorhynchus obliquidens (Pacific white-sided dolphin), Orcinus orca (Killer whale), Phocoena phocoena (Harbor porpoise), Steno bredanensis (Rough-tooth dolphin), Tursiops truncatus (Bottlenose dolphin).
