Researcher's went to York University's Grassland's and observed <em>Aster prenanthoides. </em>For this dataset, the researcher's used a 20 m transect and randomly placed it linearly on the ground. Then they selected <em>Aster prenanthoides</em> as their target species because there were many of them in that area. The researcher's walked along the transect tape and observed each <em>Aster prenanthoides</em> that they passed in the 20 m range. It was also made sure to only observe the one's that were within 20 cm left and right of the transect tape. Whenever a <em>Aster prenanthoides </em>was spotted, it was given a number and things like its distance on the transect(in m), its height(m), number of leaves that can be observed(split plant into 4 sections, count leaves in 1 section and make assumption for the whole plant), number of flowers and level of crowding (levels 0-3, 0 being no surrounding plant around target species, 3 being over crowded within 50 cm) were observed.
