Population genomics of honeybee (Apis mellifera) using present-day and museum specimens

This project compares genomes of bees collected around Ithaca, NY, USA in 1977 and kept in a museum to those collected in 2011. The goal is to understand genetic changes that took place in the interim, particularly those likely resulting from the arrival of a novel parasite, the mite Varroa destructor.
