Campylobacter fetus subsp. fetus is a zoonotic bacterium, important for animal and public health, that colonizes intestinal and genital-tract of sheep, cattle and humans. In animals, it causes infertility and abortions, whereas in humans can cause gastroenteritis, and occasionally bacteremia and extra-intestinal infections.
