EU Food System Monitoring Dashboard

At the heart of the European Green Deal, the Farm to Fork Strategy sets the EU context of sustainable food systems, recognising the inextricable links between healthy people, healthy societies and a healthy planet.

Communication COM(2020) 381 final announced that the Commission will monitor the transition to a sustainable food system so that it operates within the planetary boundaries, including progress on the targets and overall reduction of the environmental and climate footprint of the EU food system.

Considering the key role of food for the EU's economy and population, the EU food systems monitoring tool should assess the impact of all actions related to food system sustainability on competitiveness, the environment and health in the EU.

The European Commission designed a framework that builds on a set of environmental, economic and social (including health) indicators. Driven by the reuse principle, more than 300 indicators of underpinning policies have been screened, documented and assessed for their fitness for purpose and data quality.

To boost data management and user-friendly communication, an information system and a communication tool - this EU food system monitoring dashboard - was developed.

欧盟委员会发布的COM(2020) 381 final号最终通报指出，委员会将对可持续粮食系统的转型进程开展监测，确保该系统运行于行星边界（planetary boundaries）之内，涵盖各项目标的推进进度，以及欧盟粮食系统整体环境与气候足迹的削减情况。
鉴于粮食对欧盟经济与民众的核心支撑作用，欧盟粮食系统监测工具需对所有涉及粮食系统可持续性的举措进行全面评估，研判其对欧盟范围内竞争力、环境及健康领域的影响。
欧盟委员会构建了一套以环境、经济与社会（含健康）指标为基础的分析框架。基于数据复用原则，项目团队对300余项支撑政策落地的相关指标完成了筛选、归档，并就其适配性与数据质量开展了系统性评估。
为优化数据管理并推动用户友好型信息传播，研发团队开发了一套信息系统与传播工具——即本次的欧盟粮食系统监测仪表盘（EU food system monitoring dashboard）。
