This study investigated the sources and transport of organic carbon (OC) in reservoir sediments in mountainous areas and their role in the carbon cycle. Researchers found that most OC originates from external sources, including sewage (33.1%), plants (27.1%), and soil (19.9%), with over 70% consisting of plant-derived materials. Human activities such as agriculture and urbanization have a significant impact on OC dynamics, while reservoirs play a crucial role in regulating their transport and storage.
