This spatial dataset can be used to visualize the potential geomorphic suitability of stream reaches for retaining large wood or implementing the Strategic Wood Addition (SWA) or other low-tech, process-based restoration practices. Vermont's stream reaches (median 913ft length) are classified from highest (1) to lowest (7) geomorphic suitability for SWA based simply on their estimated longitudinal slope and bankfull width. This dataset is intended as a coarse screening tool for wood management potential at the reach or sub-watershed scale in first to fourth-order streams. The layer is further described by the Strategic Wood Addition (SWA) Map Layer Description document.
