Database of material degradation event within process industry

In the process industry, 30% of substance release events are caused by material degradation. For this reason, a historical analysis of material degradation incidents in the process industry was conducted, using the main European and American open-access incident databases. 3,772 events were collected, occurring between 1966 and 2023. The introduction of a systematic classification system, in line with previous work, ensures consistency in the analysis. A well-defined classification system allows to categorize incidents precisely, identifying the main causes and consequences of these events, improving the understanding of the dynamics of material degradation of process industry infrastructures.

在过程工业领域，30%的物质泄漏事件由材料降解引发。为此，本研究依托欧美主流开源事故数据库，针对过程工业材料降解事故开展历史数据分析，累计收集到1966年至2023年间发生的3772起事故。本研究沿用既有研究成果构建系统化分类体系，以保障分析过程的一致性；清晰规范的分类体系可实现事故的精准归类，便于明确此类事件的主要诱因与后果，进而深化对过程工业基础设施材料降解动力学特征的认知。
