地球表面温度是全球气候系统首要的、不可缺少的参数之一，是控制地球表面与大气之间热量、水分、气体交换的重要变量。海洋表面温度 SST(Sea Surface Temperature)是研究海洋环流、大气环流、海洋温度锋、海洋天气与气候等海洋学和气象学课题的一个十分重要的物理因子。遥感卫星可对地球表面连续的大面积同步观测，其数据是定量反演地球表面温度的重要来源。
本数据为2014年南大洋月平均海洋表面温度数据，基于MODIS L2 1km反射率数据，通过MPSST算法生成，空间范围为南纬60°以南，时间范围为1-3月和10-12月，采用GeoTIFF格式。
Earth surface temperature is one of the primary and indispensable parameters of the global climate system, and a critical variable governing heat, moisture and gas exchange between the Earth's surface and the atmosphere. Sea Surface Temperature (SST) is a highly significant physical factor for investigating oceanographic and meteorological subjects including oceanic circulation, atmospheric circulation, oceanic fronts, marine weather and climate. Remote sensing satellites enable continuous, large-area synchronous observations of the Earth's surface, and their data constitute an important source for quantitative inversion of Earth surface temperature.
This dataset consists of monthly mean sea surface temperature data of the Southern Ocean in 2014, generated using the MPSST algorithm based on MODIS L2 1km reflectance data. It has a spatial coverage of south of 60°S, temporal coverage spanning January to March and October to December, and is stored in GeoTIFF format.
