Species matrix includes productivity (g/m^2) of understory plant species prior to and four years following experimental gap creation. Soil moisture and light transmission were measured two years following gap creation.Measurements were taken at quadrats and measured across central gap and transition zones for three subplot (gap) sizes (small, medium and large).
