HORDB data

Hormone peptides are secreted by endocrine cells to act on target cells. They serve as signal molecules and play vital roles in the regulation of metabolism, growth and differentiation, etc. They present a unique group of drugs that mimics natural pathways, especially as supplement therapies where deficient on endogenous levels. The first clinically used hormone peptide, insulin, has been used in diabetes for about one hundred years. With the tremendous progress in protein/peptide detection and quantification procedures, the number of hormone peptides has increased dramatically. We constructed HORDB(hordb.cpu-bioinfor.org), a comprehensive database of hormone peptides. The database holds 6025 entries,including 5729 hormone peptides, 40 peptides drugs and 256 marketed preparations of these drugs. Each item has detailed notes, containing basic information, sequence, structure, activity, physics, and literature. We also added IC₅₀, EC₅₀, ED₅₀ and information about whether to cross the blood-brain barrier into the activity information annotation. Peptides with a PDB structure display their structure in the database. In addition, HOROB integrates search and sequence analysis to facilitate user browsing and data analysis.

激素肽（hormone peptides）由内分泌细胞分泌并作用于靶细胞。作为信号分子，它们在代谢调控、生长与分化等生理过程中发挥至关重要的作用。激素肽是一类模拟天然通路的独特药物，尤其适用于内源性水平不足的补充治疗。首款临床应用的激素肽——胰岛素，已被用于糖尿病治疗长达百年之久。随着蛋白质/肽检测与定量技术的长足进步，激素肽的数量实现了大幅增长。我们构建了激素肽综合数据库HORDB（访问网址：hordb.cpu-bioinfor.org）。该数据库共收录6025条条目，涵盖5729条激素肽、40种肽类药物以及256种该类药物的上市制剂。每条条目均包含详细注释，涵盖基础信息、序列、结构、活性、理化性质以及相关文献。我们还在活性信息注释中新增了半数抑制浓度（IC₅₀）、半数有效浓度（EC₅₀）、半数有效剂量（ED₅₀）以及是否可透过血脑屏障的相关信息。带有PDB（Protein Data Bank）结构的肽类物质可在数据库中直接展示其三维结构。此外，HOROB集成了搜索与序列分析功能，以助力用户浏览与数据分析。
