Diet among 6-months old children in Norway, 1998

The purpose of the survey was to map the eating habits of infants at 6 months of age, enabling authorities and health stations to more easily promote a healthy diet and prevent diet-related health problems in this age group.

The sample consisted of 3,000 infants born between April 27, 1998, and May 17, 1998. Only children of mothers born in Norway, Sweden, or Denmark, and only one child from twin or triplet sets, were included in the sample. A follow-up study was conducted among these children at 12 months of age.

The survey was conducted using a postal questionnaire. The questionnaire covered the following topics:
- Weight and length at birth and at 6 months of age.
- Background questions about the child.
- Questions about the child's diet.
- Information about infant nutrition.
- Background questions about the child's mother.

When analyzing the data, it is important to consider the information about the child's diet in relation to their growth and development. Therefore, it is crucial to account for weight and length at birth and at 6 months of age.

The survey was conducted by Statistics Norway on behalf of the National Nutrition Council.
