Next-generation sequencing of 16S rRNA genes in marine sediments from the Hunter River estuary and coast

Extreme storms that result in heavy precipitation can also drive significant inputs of stormwater and terrigenous sediment into estuaries and offshore with unknown consequences for many of the exposed organisms. This project aims to investigate the identity of sediment microbial communities in the Hunter River estuary and along the coast, before and after a major flooding event.

引发强降水的极端风暴可将大量雨水径流与陆源沉积物输入至河口与近海水域，此类输入对诸多暴露于该环境中的生物所造成的影响尚不明确。本项目旨在探究大型洪水事件发生前后，亨特河河口（Hunter River estuary）及沿岸海域的沉积物微生物群落的组成特征。
