Historical sea surface temperature and salinity data submitted by D.
Kohnke of the German data center (DOD) in Hamburg. The data include
surface temperature and salinity, collected by german ships in the North
Sea, Newfoundland, the Baltic and in the vicinity of West Africa areas.
Following is a list of ships, study dates, and associated NODC reference
numbers: Anton Dohrn 1958-1974, l01187; Walter Herwig 1973-1974,l01188;
Uthorn 1950-1958, l01189; Gauss 1961, l01190; Meteor 1973-1974, l01191;
Komet 1973, l01192; Eem/Ost 1938-1939, l01193; unknown ships 1953-1972,
l01194 and unknown ships 1970-1973, l01195. Bathy Therm (bt) data was processed by NODC. All data originally
received on tape have been converted to current NODC storage media.
