It is necessary to implement proactive health policies that allow the rapid characterization of infectious health alerts, particularly those of a zoonotic and emerging type, which facilitate better management of health resources, as well as the prediction of future new buds. For this, one of the basic pillars must be a rapid diagnosis and characterization of the infectious agents involved. Thus, this porject proposes the creation of a research framework in the field of emerging pathogens that responds to the needs raised in the previous paragraphs with the objective basic to promote the well-being and health of the people of the city of Burgos. In this context, and particularly as it has been revealed during the current pandemic, the availability of tools that allow early determination of the appearance of an infectious problem and that also represent a community approach and not an individual one would be highly beneficial. In this sense, surveillance of the presence of pathogenic microorganisms in wastewater would allow knowing the health status of the community, in this case the city of Burgos, in advance, thus facilitating the taking of agile and proactive public health measures.
