The goal of this project was to isolate and identify plant growth promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) from drought tolerant host phenotype. Two rhizobacteria were shown to delay drought stress phenotypes in wheat seedlings especially through alterations in root architecture. Whole genome sequencing was used to identify the species level identification. The assembled draft genomes will allow to identify presence of genes associated with drought tolerance.

本研究的核心目标为从耐旱宿主表型中分离并鉴定植物促生根际细菌(plant growth promoting rhizobacteria,PGPR)。实验证实,两株根际细菌可通过调控根系结构,显著延缓小麦幼苗的干旱胁迫表型。本研究采用全基因组测序技术完成菌株的物种水平鉴定。组装得到的草图基因组将为挖掘与耐旱性相关的功能基因提供支撑。
