GREYING WITH GRACE: Towards a Sustainable Holistic Future

This report examines the implications of Malaysia’s rapidly ageing population and the systemic challenges surrounding financial security, caregiving, social inclusion, and governance. Drawing on secondary data analysis and multi-stakeholder roundtables involving government, civil society, industry, and research institutions, the study identifies key structural gaps in Malaysia’s current ageing ecosystem. It highlights the growing pressures on informal caregivers, uneven retirement preparedness, and fragmented service delivery. The report proposes a shift from welfare-oriented responses toward a sustainable ageing ecosystem built on prevention, participation, care, and innovation. Through contributions from practitioners across finance, social work, technology, and policy, the report presents actionable insights and outlines a pilot neighbourhood-based Ageing Support and Innovation Hub model. The findings aim to inform policymakers, industry partners, and community organisations seeking coordinated solutions to support ageing with dignity and resilience in Malaysia.
