The identification of individuals and relatives is important to natural resource management, as genetic mark-recapture surveys are frequently used to estimate the size and demographic parameters of harvested populations. In this study, we sequenced individual American black bears (Ursus americanus) collected from Alaska with restriction site-associated DNA sequencing (RAD-seq) to develop a panel of microhaplotype markers for the genetic identification of individuals and first-order relatives. This data package includes raw sequence data (fastq files) for 85 individual bears.
