The soil profiles along the Highway and characterized soil nutrient status in Northwest Teritorries, Canada 2014 August

Inuvik is northen limit of tree distribution in Northwest Teritorries, Canada, on the continuous permafrost. Black spruce is dominant species in upland and lowland terrace of the landscape. White spruce stands exist on higher terrace with dryer sandy sediments. Shrub tundra expands mosaic patchy pattern along the Dempster Highway. We surveyed soil profiles along the Highway and characterized soil nutrient status. Soil percolate water samples and soil chemical analysis were conducted.

伊努维克（Inuvik）是加拿大西北地区树木分布的北界，地处连续多年冻土带。黑云杉为该区域高地与低地阶地的优势物种；白云杉林则分布于较高阶地，其沉积物为较干燥的砂质土壤。灌木苔原沿邓普斯特公路（Dempster Highway）呈镶嵌斑块状分布。我们沿该公路调查了土壤剖面，表征了土壤养分状况，并开展了土壤渗滤水取样及土壤化学分析工作。
